Wilford Smith – “Clients say it is far easier to find than city centre offices”
South Yorkshire law firm Wilford Smith saw a move to Meadowhall Business Park as key to the company’s ambitious expansion programme both in the South Yorkshire region and nationwide.
The firm, which specialises in major fraud and complex corporate cases, commercial conveyancing and estate planning, recently moved into 2,800 sq ft of office space to add to its current Rotherham HQ and planned Sheffield city centre and central London bases.
Manager Garth Imison, who is overseeing the firm’s expansion programme, said location and accessibility for clients was key in the decision to choose Meadowhall Business park, currently Sheffield’s most active commercial property site.
He said: “We chose Meadowhall Business Park initially because the location is superb.
“It benefits us for three key reasons: firstly, we have direct and fast access to the M1 and therefore to head North or South very easily.
“Secondly, this location gives us access to our clients right across the region.
“And thirdly, and equally importantly, our existing staff have found it faster to access this location, and we can attract new staff from Sheffield itself. I must also say, that the parking was a real draw for us, too.”
Has the move met expectations?
Garth said: “Our expectations were high and Meadowhall Business Park has met them. This area is going from strength to strength and is really proving great for staff.
“We’re proud for our clients to visit us here, and clients are also happy because the parking facilities are exactly what we needed as we continue to develop as a firm.
“Opening this office is part of a wider expansion programme across the firm, with another Sheffield office also opening and one in London, too. The choice of each location was geared to us being closer to existing clients and being located where we can attract further business clients.”

“These offices have a more professional feel about them and are very conducive to team working, so we are performing more effectively.”
Wilford Smith configured the offices exactly for its needs combining open plan with separate office space and meeting rooms.
Garth added: “We have built a mix of open plan offices by the careful placing of furniture and dividers, but also have separate offices for accounts and management functions.
“It was also important for us to have very professional-looking meeting rooms that cater for anything from a one-to-one right up to conferences. These spaces are working well for us.”
So what does an out of town business park location bring compared to Wilford Smith’s other town and city centre bases?
“Access to the motorway is the obvious answer. But, also, the excellent access we now have to people in Rotherham and Sheffield is equally important,” added Garth.
“This location is seen as easily reachable by people across the region – and everyone knows where it is without having to check a map – so it works well for that reason. Clients say it is far easier to find than city centre offices.
“I would absolutely recommend a move to Meadowhall Business Park to other companies. This area is going through an exciting development phase and it is good to be a part of that.”
ARBA Group bought Meadowhall Business Park in 2016 and is delivering a multi-million pound refurbishment programme for the five former council buildings.
